Ralph Shugert Periwinkle
The Periwinkle, Vinca minor 'Ralph Shugert', produces dark, glossy green, and white margined foliage which gives it the variegated appearance. Periwinkle is also known as myrtle.The deep lilac flowers are numerous, larger than the species, and appear in both spring and fall. It is an excellent groundcover for flower beds and it forms a dense weed suppressing cover.It grows to 6 inches and spreads to cover a large area. This plant prefers shade in zones 7-8 and they must have shade in zone 9.The Ralph Shugert vinca will handle full sun in zones 4-6 with adequate water. Vinca is virtually carefree!Periwinkle is the most popular evergreen ground cover.
