The fragrant white flowers appear in spring, and it has deep green leaves, mottled pink and cream, on striking red stems.It is a natural companion plant to rhododendrons; this Leucothoe thrives in acid soil and full to partial shade, but will tolerate sun if soil is not dry.No pruning is necessary unless it is to shape it up; established plants can benefit from fertilization.
