Big Diamond Shaped Blooms all Summer If you don’t know Pink Diamond Hydrangea, you’re in for a treat! Pink Diamond Hydrangea, Hydrangea paniculata 'Pink Diamond', will be an amazing addition to your garden this year. This isn’t the big flower-ball shrub you might think of when you imagine a hydrangea in your yard. Instead this is part of a group of hydrangeas called ‘paniculatas’. They are named this because the flowers aren’t round, but grow in panicles, which make them cone-shaped. Pink Diamond’s Hydrangea flowers open in summer when a lot of other shade flowers are fading. They open a luscious cream color and gradually turn a rich shade of deep pink. The different shades of flowers give each flower head a show-stopping ombre’ look, with white flowers at one end and deep pink at the other. The panicles are held upright, and this large upright habit means that Pink Diamond Hydrangea is a fantastic at the back of the perennial border. It can also be easily trained as a small tree for a garden centerpiece. They have a less formal look than snowball type hydrangeas and look great in a more natural or woodland garden. This is a rugged, reliable plant and is considered the most cold hardy of this clan of paniculatas so you can plant it without worry of having to coddle it.
