The Butterfly Plant Hello Yellow, 'Asclepias tuberosa Hello Yellow, has all the advantages of the native wildflower but with the added appeal of shockingly bright yellow flowers.Butterflies love to visit this flower for nectar and the foliage of Asclepias is the only thing Monarch butterfly caterpillars will eat.Plants have deep taproots and are best left undisturbed once established. Foliage is slow to emerge in spring. Once established, Hello Yellow requires little care.Though it is perfectly cold-hardy in the north, mulching plants in winter will help prevent frost-heaving. In spring, trim back last year's growth and await the beautiful new foliage that will appear a bit later than other perennials.Following the fabulous flowers, typical milkweed seed pods develop which rupture to reveal seeds with long, silvery-white, silky hairs.Hello Yellow is tolerant of both wet and dry soils and needs plenty of sunshine to bloom heavily.* Deer resistant* Long bloom period
